Ongoing Activities
Activities
Workshops are held quarterly every year on the artistic requirements of the members (e.g. arts administration, playwright, choreographing etc)ZATCYP conducts training of artistes in schools, colleges, and universities on all aspects of theatre and also assists community based groups in perfecting their plays, scripting etc
Festivals:
Local (National) festival.
This is only for our members across the country. The Association has been holding the festival every three years. The essence of this festival is to have cross-pollination of ideas, skills and to share solutions affecting fellow artistes within locality.
Regional festival.
This festival invites participants from the region, and has been held every three years since the inception of Assitej Zimbabwe. Besides bringing cultures of different countries together and sharing, it also serves as a platform to identify and promote artistes across borders and to facilitate networking amongst theatre-promoting bodies.
International Festival.
This festival invites participants from all over the world, e.g. in 1997 we had participants from South Africa, Germany, Zambia, Finland and Switzerland and other countries. This is a grand stage for artistes from the region to showcase their talent to the world and create more synergies with other theatre practitioners.
These three festivals alternate, so that every year ZATCYP celebrates one of the above-mentioned three events.
ZATCYP commemorates the following International days among others:
1. World Assitej Day, March 20.
2. June 16. Day of the African child
3. World Theatre Day
4. World Aids day
5. Culture week
